The Visitor Center
The Visitor Center offers a permanent interactive exhibition. The visitor will receive an indicative guide to tour the room, which has models, videos, real-time detectors and detailed posters that allow an understanding of the objective and work of the observatory for the general public. Although the visitor center is mostly visited by local schools, many tourists also find their way and learn more about the Observatory. The visits include the beautiful garden of the office building which houses several pieces of art as well as examples of several types of detectors which are used in the Pierre Auger Observatory.
The Visitor Center opened its doors to the general public in 2001 and since 2015 offers more interactive exhibits, which enables us to serve visitors arriving at almost all hours of the day.
Since the new opening in 2023 a visit is even more worthwhile.
If you can't make it to Malargüe you may want to take a virtual tour of our Visitor Center.
